DAYS BEFORE THE DRAWDOWN

President Obama ordered the United States military to reduce troops in Iraq to 50,000 by the end of August, 2010. His plan entailed a large drawdown of American forces as the official combat mission in Iraq came to and end. As of September, the Iraqi government was to take over the military responsibility of its country. These images are from the last weeks before the  transition of power was to take place.
